does everyone...?

Does everyone go semi-crazy and get an "oooh-bad-idea"-haircut when they get home from a mission?
..
just me?
Cool.

So I got a haircut. And it looks cute. I admit this. But I miss my long hair SO badly. And my short hair has finally grown to the point that I like it. But I haven't blow-dried my hair in oh... two to three weeks.
(that's the secret, my people. don't blow dry your hair and it should grow like mad. should.)

In other news:
Tonight I finished season 2 of this puppy:

(Yes I jumped on the Downton Abbey bandwagon. So sue me.)

and can I just say: FINALLY!! Finally Matthew and Mary! FI.NA.LLY!
I haven't touched season 3 yet, so all y'all ruiners out there, don't even think about it. I will kill you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In other other news:
Jonny boy is doing well. I'm so proud of him. He's going to be such an amazing leader, and he already is such a great missionary. He just works so hard, I can tell.

Slightly related I had my 2nd interview at the MTC yesterday. Trippiest thing in the world to be back there. Anyway, they said they'd let me know about the job in a few weeks. Crossies, guys??? Thanks.

And slightly related to that; sometimes (like yesterday morning times) I miss my mission so much that I can't breathe.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm going to do my own spa night :] Gallon vat of coconut oil, here I come.

love y'all. I've missed ya.

happy happy girl

Today, when I got to work the first thing my supervisor, Desiree, said to me is "Why are you so happy?"
Cause, people, I am happy.
I attribute it to a couple of things:

I seriously believe there is nothing in this world more refreshing than taking a run. Or a swim. Or a bike ride, or a walk. And I have been doing just those things. Thank you, my lovely roommates who are either triathletes or training for the Ragnar.
Plus, while I run I listen to J. Biebs. Best. Work-Out. Music. Ever. Believe it. Your work out will nevah be the same.

Secondly, I found out where I will be living the next year and a half of my life:

dun dun-dun duuun!

That's right, ladies and gentlemen. "Deep in the heart of Texas" (please believe I hear Hadfield's voice singing that e'ry time I think it. E'ry time.) And it's taken a while, but I am thrilled! I'll be serving in T.H.E. Mission (Texas Houston East). I can't even imagine how rad it's going to be. Which is terrif- the most marvelous things are always unexpected.

(coolie - I just googled "define:tejas" cause I refer to it in my mexicano-speak 90% of the time and check this out:
Tejas: Sanskrit word meaning fearlessness, valor.Awesome.

And last week I reread Mrs. Dalloway By Virginia Woolf. The most scrumptious, delicious, breathtaking language in the world! It's one of those books that makes you feel like lace and pearls and fresh flowers - instant "classy".
Read it.

Plus, on top of all this sugar, I've been feeling really inspired lately. By quotes and classes and books and all of these sparking people.
Have a taste:
"The important thing is this: To be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become." - Charles DuBois

See what I'm saying? I'm a happy girl of late. It's bliss.

i know, i know

I need to to a major update post. But this is not going to be it. I am sitting in the library. I have been here for 4 hours. And I love it. Seriously. I am pretty happy. It's just a little rainy, dark, and cold. So I am steeling myself to walk home whilst writing paper snippets and watching one tree hill - season 1. it's... interesting. but i love nathan. what can i say? I'm a sucker for basketball players who are not named chad michael murray. yeah.
here is where i am:
okay, i didn't actually take this. and it is no way that light outside. but i am looking down a row that looks remarkably similar, except i'm at the window end. so happy studying, happy finals, happy april. it's gonna be a killer-great month.

p.s. update soon. like asap. promise. cross my heart and hope to die.

bellissima

**
Honestly, this day is WONDERFUL!
It's sunny and beautiful and we had cleaning checks today! I am writing my paper on Othello right now.
It makes me want it to be summer and so I can run around barefoot and go swimming and soak the sun til I am burnt to a crisp.
I am just in a good mood. I am blessed and happy. And it's sunny. huzzah!

**this picture is the mood i am in.... not necessarily what p-town looks like... just ps

friday in pictures

At work, I felt like this:

I talked to this person and felt much better

(BEST PART) I saw this @ BYU's International Cinema ... for free *

I went here:

and tickled my fancy with one of these suckers:

Then used a truly wonderful coupon to get these two for just one dollah (I know, am I frugal or what??)

And now I am sitting here about to buy this:

Cause I loved it so.

Try and show me a better Friday.

* It was incredible. Ugh. I need better words to describe it. Beautiful, romantic, moving, suspenseful, shocking, memorable, unforgettable. Unforgettable. Magical? sure.
Salim looked like Arlen, my first autistic kid. So I double loved it. Wow. Wow-wow-wow.

happy list, the first

I got this great idea from The Rockstar Diaries (which I love so much that I follow on Google Reader) and today is a day where I really need to remeber these things:

things i'm just tickled about
1. my doggy who still loves me even when i call him fat
2. the silver lining
3. letters
4. feeling giddy
5. my mom for becoming the best of my friends
6. sun
7. opportunities
8. quote books
9. long walks when you don't run out of things to talk about
10. thai sticky rice with custard

in fact, i think i will order myself a dish of sticky rice today after work.
